project
the transformation of the space, at the end is the activity of a subject in
the objective sphere of a personal expression; knowing this, the space always
shows as a personal category – as a space of a personality; according
to this, the transformation of the space is transformation of a personality
– affirmation trough artistic practice / act; so it is possible to join
many different artistic acts and gather them in to one project like this one
through something else but the primary theme; even if we put all this behind
it is still possible to enjoy in the simple meaning of the happening whose purpose
is to put the city life in action with a hope that this kind of transformation
will bring any kind of flexible events in the town.

this project is attempt of displacing of city life from introverting places
in to open city space; people who work on this places have monopolistic opinion
that particular kind of events are possible in particular kind of spaces; in
open city space, events (art objects) are available to anyone; whole city population
from the moment when author put object in space or perform some action is creator
of the further destiny of objects, performances or any other action; in the
other way, spaces built for specific purpose project tried to put into the function
/gallery places / or alternative places never used in artistic purpose (shop
windows, basements of galleries…) give new function;
to make object for some specific place, to organize the exhibition according
to the place for the exhibiting ; finding the place which fits to the work;
all this will produce a place for the happenings, ordinary life as well as artistic
or any other events;
in this project participated 30 authors; they occupied 10 places- four exteriors
and six interiors.


_reactions
our first idea was to start transformations in many small towns in Serbia with
artistic actions like making of site specific works ( objects, installations,
sculptures, performances); after the project is finished we asked ourselves:
is there any sense for making similar actions in any other town? because the
reactions of the public were not so good in zrenjanin; is this project finished?

<reasons>
the national museum is closed for a long time and still we do not know when
it will be open;
the museum of destruction tells us about present situation in the society;
”exhibition” in the museum of destruction is a metaphor and essence
of our reality;
while reading this, somebody is destroying in some way the “museum”;
basic idea is simple: the proclamation of the pin family house in to the
city museum or museum of destruction
goals> citizens should visit the house like they did 10- 20 years ago and
to be witness of its devastation;
authors interventions in the form of titles, photos are his associations,
thoughts and emotions related to the city or any other levels of our reality;
author thinks that destruction is major problem which gather the past and
the present with new tendencies - destruction of meanings, paradox as parallel
existence of human needs for meaning and passion for absurd in the same time;
the house of pin family – the museum of destruction
is always in front of our eyes and it could be example of both tendencies;
beauty, knowledge, willing for lightness and darkness which destroy its and
coming not from outside but from ourselves;

I am interested in how the spectator is affected by the rain;
the rain is a specific and wonderful feature for me, and this work is based
on trying to simulate it; the authors impressions are replaced from outside
into inner space;
the rain murmur made us feeling calm and it gives tranquility; we can hear music
of the raindrops; it depends on the place we are listening to the rain: we hear
a different melody walking in the streets; it is a different sound coming from
the roof, window, outdoor, in the country… there is also a sound line
in this work; the environment is created by the strength, rhythm and thickness
of the rain sound;
the pictures on the floor create a visual field: the conflict between the water
and the earth I have translated into material world in the picture (material:
the water, the varnish, the plaster, the sand, the putty, the colors); the pictures
are round and the dimensions are different (the diameter is of 10 cm to 1 m)
and thickness (2-10 cm); they are arranged on the floor in certain rhythm; the
whole work is marked out by the third element – the light; a narrow beam
of light simulates the rain slope; it is given a rhythm, which is connected
with audio impression;

the photo installation “elevators”, milan stosic has anthologized
the elements of everyday, in a topography of the city and the entire urban structure,
which are compressed in a map symbol; by the light worlds of the electric bulbs
in the elevators, those which are taking up and down all the burdens that one
man carries with him, here and now.
a vertical plan, expressed thru the identity of light which is hiding in and
behind the photography, is a mannered effort of deep inner observation and living
throughout of various attempts of preserving faraway source of light and its
identity, on a plan which is usually not used in map making...

a town in the middle east,
cairo; because from here we do not get the same picture as from france; because,
here I am just an occidental woman, therefore I found my refuge with my camera
on the balcony of an apartments building; here I expose my intimacy, my neighborhood,
the scenes of the everyday life so banal and picturesque at a time; every
day my fictive personages observe at the window the street theatre; un odd
meeting or non-meeting for I fear to affront ones look, other annoyance; I
spy passionately those who see so well what I film from the fourth floor;
is it the voyeurism or simply the reflection of my situation? are the looks
going to cross? I leave the time flow in the sound of the car horns, the winter
light irradiates the faces, a woman waiting… what else… nothing
special, people live beneath my window...

the audio-visual situation called (Cona C) zone C explores migration processes
through various aspects. it follows an individual who has left his/her domestic
ground, friends, culture - the homeland territory - behind. the project focuses
on the phenomenon of the border as a geo-political crossing line, which acts
as a membrane, as a two-directional filter.
it appears as a
border defining the power of one territory against the other, affecting the
immigrant's position according to order and laws imposed by the state on either
side. it is a game with different rules for different people.
borders, fences,
walls. Some preventing from exiting, others prohibiting entering. the iron
curtain, schengen. the chinese wall, the berlin wall, west - israeli wall…
this enormous snake (8 m high, 40 m wide, and 650 km long) is supposed to
divide palestinian west bank from israel and prevent suicidal bombing attacks
…
how does a wall
come into existence? by a mental barrier transforming into a material one!
a wall that grows in people's minds materialises on Earth. An owner's wall,
a defence wall, a border wall, a racial wall, a wall of prejudices and mistrust…

video works “from a mask to a personality” and “the creation
of a masterpiece, of a personality, the history of art” are dealt with
the meaning and the status of a personality (and with both the author and
the audience)
in the past the personality was hidden behind a mask and this problem is explored
here.
the mask is the main subject of the changeable and fashionable character and
so both the personality and the creation don’t have an important role.
the personality is created by the mask–personality, to be carried with
a specific aim to hide or completely erase a coherent, dynamic, ecstatic identity.

via negativa is a method of reduction. the starting point of each year's research
is one of the
seven deadly sins. the task for the performer in VN process is to investigate
and perform a personal relation to the sin. VN presents its work annually with
a theatre performance. in the eighth year, the research will be concluded by
the performance of VIA NOVA, which will integrate the material from the past
seven years. by giving workshops VN develops its working method and expands
its international research network.
STARTING POINT> ANGER sets itself into different contexts of visual arts.
seven performers perform six scenes. each scene is a 15-minute statement on
the personal drive of anger. the six performances run simultaneously and are
repeated six times. those in the audience can follow each performance from the
beginning to the end and therefore, like touring the gallery exhibition, formulate
their own dramatic sequence of viewing the scenes. after the sixth repetition
the performers exchange their roles and perform the copies.

a specific spot for a bench repeats a sight and points out the distance, view,
perception, sensation and relations with human being, benches, nature, town.
readers, lovers, homeless are arrayed sideways to the bench lines.
the change of the point of view: a bench is replaced to a place usually empty
which represents a passage, departure, senseless – it becomes the center
of its previous restriction.
it is created an early non-existed hierarchy a new possibility, a new choice
of point of view, e new way and new feelings.
one is demanded a certain decision to sit on it and also is demanded an agreement
to get out of line and get into the focus and look through a new focus. this
bench is on the way to a passerby and it isn’t exposed to his view.
